For dinner that day, we chose to go to Gu Ji Yan San Warm Body Beef on Baoqing Street. For a girl who is trying to reduce carbon emissions during dinner, this choice satisfies my cravings without too much guilt. The exterior of the restaurant is simple; even though summer is gradually arriving, there are still people coming to enjoy beef hotpot.
We ordered the original beef hotpot, which includes a vegetable platter and slices of beef. We also added an extra serving of meat slices and a bowl of rice. The broth was a pleasant surprise as soon as it hit my palate; it didn't have heavy seasoning and was a clear beef bone broth with a natural sweetness, perfect for someone like me who seeks a low-burden diet. The beef slices were tender and just needed a few seconds of dipping to enjoy the fragrant and sweet taste of the meat, enhanced further with shredded ginger and chopped scallions.
The selection of vegetables was thoughtful, with more than just a few leaves thrown in. There were tomatoes, tofu skins, garland chrysanthemum, and cabbage, all colorful and visually appealing, making the meal enjoyable. This meal provided both vegetable fiber and high-quality protein, making it a refreshing choice without the burden, ideal for those watching their diet.
