Located directly across from Songshan High School of Agriculture and Commerce, "Dafang Ice Products" is a beloved spot that I have visited more than a dozen times and still want to return to. This shop specializes in various traditional ice products and douhua (tofu pudding), offering reasonable prices and generous portions, and has long been favored by local students and residents.
This time, I ordered "Traditional Douhua + Taro Paste + Sweet Potato Balls + Barley." Every time I eat here, I feel a sense of comfort and satisfaction. The combination of ingredients is harmonious, sweet but not cloying. The douhua itself is smooth and creamy, melting in your mouth, with a natural soybean aroma that is neither too watery nor powdery, showcasing the true texture of traditional handmade douhua. The taro paste is generous, with a fine texture that still has chunks of taro and natural fibers, providing a firm yet soft bite. Paired with the chewy sweet potato balls and taro balls, every bite transitions between the chewiness and the softness of the douhua, creating layers of flavor.
Barley serves as a balancing component in this bowl, perfectly cooked to neither mushy nor hard, so you can enjoy the texture without it getting stuck in your teeth. The syrup is on the sweet side, providing a refreshing sensation in the summer, though I personally wish that a soy milk base could be an option as it would be even better!
In summary, "Dafang Ice Products" is one of the ice cream shops that I believe is worth visiting repeatedly. Whether it's the sincerity of the toppings, the quality of the douhua, or the friendly prices, this is truly a place that makes you "unknowingly return more than a dozen times."
