Speaking of "Jian Guo Market," it is recognized as the largest public traditional market in Taiwan and also the biggest food ingredient distribution center in central Taiwan. 👍 Next door is Taichung Mitsui LaLaport and Taichung Sugar Factory. 😊

The Li Ji Snack Shop is definitely a must-try when you come to Jian Guo Market. 😚 The shop is quite large, spanning three stalls (c414-c417), and its bright red sign makes it easy to find. 👍

Braised Pork Rice Set:

The braised pork rice set has the braised pork and side dishes served separately. The braised pork rice is a mix of sweet and savory flavors. 😋 The pork is a bit on the fatty side, and the pieces are larger than usual, giving it a better texture. The side dishes are all stir-fried by the owner, with a special love for pumpkin. The pumpkin is stir-fried with garlic, filling it with the fragrance of garlic and the sweetness of pumpkin. 👍

Leg Meat Rice:

The skin of the leg meat is rich and fatty. 😋 The leg skin has a chewy texture compared to regular pork belly, which is really on a different level. 😆 Personally, I prefer the leg skin.

Pork Trotter:

The shop is truly an expert in braised dishes. 😆 When ordering the pork trotter, they give you the mid-section, which has skin, tendons, and meat—the mid-section is definitely the best representative of pig trotter. 😂

Braised Cabbage:

The braised cabbage here does not have the sweetness of cabbage. Instead, it is simmered with flat fish and satay sauce, making the flavor richer and more delicious, giving a feeling akin to clay pot dishes. 👏

Meat Thick Soup:

The soup is not overly thickened, and it contains a lot of bamboo shoots. At one point, I thought I ordered meat thick noodles. The bamboo shoots' freshness and sweetness enhance the broth's flavor. The homemade meat thick mixture isn’t too thick either; it's super delicious. 😋 Adding a bit of black vinegar enhances the taste even more.

To summarize:

Parking at Jian Guo Market is extremely convenient, with a parking lot right above. 🅿️ The indoor market is also great— you don’t have to worry even if it’s pouring rain. The nearby department store and sugar factory allow you to have a fun day right here. 😆
