Michelin Guide: 2024 🌟 Green Star ☘️ Directly Sourced Local Ingredients with Taiwanese Flavor!

Every time I return to Taiwan, I have to visit a star-rated restaurant. This time, for the first time, I chose a Taiwanese cuisine restaurant, which is also one of the few establishments in Taiwan to receive the prestigious Green Star honor.

All the ingredients used are environmentally friendly and naturally cultivated, providing a fresh and delicious taste while also showing some care for the land of Taiwan.

Most Taiwanese restaurants offer family-style dining for larger groups, but here it’s rare to have the option for a set meal for one. On the day of my visit, the restaurant was about half full, with a good quality of customers. The atmosphere was quite calm, and the seating distance was just right, making for a very comfortable dining experience.

This time I ordered the dinner mid-range "Lan Personal Set Menu" priced at NT$ 2,980 + 10% service charge. Every small dish was exquisite and charming. After each dish was served, there would be a brief introduction to the ingredients and how to enjoy them. My thoughts on each dish are noted below the photos!

I don't eat a lot, and in the end, I couldn't finish everything, so I took some to go. I believe it should be enough for most people to feel satisfied. Given the positive experience, I would definitely visit again and try other signature dishes.

The appetizer platter has each dish perfectly seasoned without overshadowing the others. The drunken shrimp is very sweet, and each ingredient showcases its own strengths.
Tai Ping Town's rose shrimp is wrapped in tofu skin with shrimp meat, and also includes salted egg yolk and mullet roe. The outer layer is crispy with a multi-layered texture inside, balancing freshness and savory flavors, making it a very interesting snack.
Wondrous Soup, a classic dish often seen in Taiwanese banquet cuisine, is something I originally did not like. However, the sweetness of the cabbage and dried ingredients comes through, making it refreshing and not greasy or heavy.
The pork ribs taught by the master at Penglai Pavilion are so tender that the meat separates easily from the bone, and they have a sweet flavor.
Stir-fried crab with osmanthus, the waiter specially mentioned that the dish does not actually contain osmanthus; the golden-colored eggs resemble osmanthus petals. The eggs are stir-fried to be dry and not greasy, and their crisp texture mixed with the crunchy bean sprouts makes it very easy to finish the dish quickly. The crabs are filled with roe, and the meat of the autumn crabs is especially sweet. I really like this dish.
The mullet roe fried rice is made by stir-frying mullet roe that has been soaked in Shaoxing wine. The frying technique is impressive, with each grain of rice distinct and not dry or hard. It is topped with a generous amount of mullet roe powder, giving it a rich and savory seafood flavor.
The Clear Soup with Four Treasures, though called "four treasures," contains a rich variety of ingredients. The chicken broth, simmered with dried scallops and shiitake mushrooms, is fresh, sweet, and warming. The radish is in season and very sweet, and it also includes my favorite bamboo fungus! Having it at the end of the meal provides a very soothing feeling.
The fruit platter and sweet grass jelly dessert; the fruits in Taiwan are already very sweet, so they are delicious without adding extra honey (but later I tasted the honey on its own and it was fragrant, I really wanted to take some to go).
