The diversity of hot pot is quite sufficient, the self-service platters allow for free selection, the shrimp paste is good, the ribeye beef is very fragrant, and the Matsusaka pork has a nice chewy texture, but overall the quality of the meat does not reach an impressive level.
I first tried "Zukuan Delicate Hot Pot" 🍲 during my university days, and I think Zukuan has really changed a lot! 🤣
When I ate there in Taichung before, the prices were around 300 to 400, and they had regular vegetable plates, plus you could exchange points or vouchers for large meat platters.
Now, some Zukuan locations offer self-service vegetable plates. 👍🏻 However, the amount of meat you get from point exchanges has significantly decreased. 🤣 I also think it's reasonable that the free meat platters have gotten smaller. Otherwise, the portions were originally too large! The restaurant might have been losing money (?)
✅ I still think the self-service vegetable plates are great. 😎 You can freely pick the vegetables and ingredients you want! Their shrimp paste 🍤 is also quite good, and you can taste the whole shrimp. 🥹
The main dish, the wagyu beef, is quite large—around 4-5 pieces. It’s pretty lean, so I recommend not cooking it for too long! The beef flavor is quite fragrant. ☺️
The main dish, the Matsusaka pork, is a bit thick and has a nice chew to it, but I found it a little greasy after eating a lot. 🤣
The self-service bar also has various drinks and ice cream, which really satisfies. 🥹
Overall, I think the variety is sufficient, but for hot pot, I feel the price is on the high side. 😂 The quality of the meat is alright, but not stunning. It might be worth considering going when they have points for free meat platters. 😂
