I have always known that the buffet at Mei Fu is famous, but I never had the chance to visit. This time, it just so happened that a friend had a birthday that month, and with four people dining together, one person could eat for free. It was a Sunday night, and the regular price was $2000 + 10% service charge per person, but after the discount, the average was $1700 (including service charge), which felt like quite a good deal!

Here are some items that stood out to me or that I really liked:

• Prosciutto with melon (very special)
• A variety of cheeses with crackers
• Pan-seared scallops and salmon sashimi
• Sea bass (I think it was this, the texture was very good)
• Shrimp (though special, the taste was just okay)
• Beetroot (looked special and I hope I didn't misidentify it)
• Fresh-cut steak (quite tender and fragrant, delicious with some sauce)
• I forgot what type of crab legs they were
  I seriously picked several pieces, it had a bit of a thawed texture
  But it was still not too bad 😂
  With good technique, you can pull out whole legs without them falling apart
• Oysters (cooked) were quite impressive, they didn't have a fishy taste even without dipping sauce, and my friend ate a lot

👍 I must highly recommend the freshly made mixed fruit juice and vegetable juice; they were truly made with real ingredients, though a bit sweet, I'm not sure if they added extra sugar.

The selection of cooked food isn't too extensive, but there were still some items I didn't try or notice. The grilled items weren't as impressive compared to other places I've been to, but the teppanyaki section had a lot of options. At the beginning, you have to queue a bit, but it’s hard to grab everything at once when you're a bit hungry 😂

The highlight was the dessert section.
I've always remembered that this place is also very famous for its desserts.
There were many items that you might find in specialty stores outside,
including room temperature, refrigerated items, and even waffles.
I was dazzled by the variety.
As a dessert lover, I wanted to try everything.
Although not every item was delicious,
I think it was already better than many buffets in terms of quality.
There were also some unique items like macarons and King cakes.

Overall, this place is fairly standard; a bit on the pricey side with not as many items as I expected. There don't seem to be many items that truly wow you. I feel that places like Xiang Xiang and Xu Ji at the same price point are more worthwhile, but it’s still nice to try at least once; they have birthday discounts available—just something to consider.

Overall dining experience is average.
Pros:

1. Sashimi section: Diverse selection, with highlights being the shrimp, grilled sushi, and hand rolls.
2. Freshly made clear soup and noodle section: The beef noodle soup has a light and slightly spicy broth, and the beef tendon is of good quality.
3. Western section: The grilled steak and large shrimp perform well, with a chewy texture.
4. Indian cuisine: Creative offerings, perfect for those looking to try something new.
5. Dessert section: Rich selection and excellent flavors; the freshly baked croissants and waffles are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the ice cream features Mövenpick and Häagen-Dazs, which is a plus.
6. Extra perks: One person dines for free when four people dine together during their birthday month, plus a complimentary small cake and free parking.

Cons:

1. The seating is a bit small and the overall space feels slightly crowded.
2. Seafood section: The crab legs lack sweetness and overall quality is somewhat lacking.
3. Beverage section: Limited selection, overall disappointing.

Price reference: Holiday dinner is around 2000 + 10%, with discounts bringing the average cost per person to 1750. Considering the price point, the dessert section and some highlighted items are more attractive, but overall service and attention to detail still have room for improvement.
