【Taipei Zhongshan】Dongyin Quick Knife

I went on a weekday evening, originally intending to eat at the neighboring Fuda Steamed Dumplings, but I saw a long line of people waiting continuously. Glancing over, I discovered a famous restaurant that I really wanted to try! Just so happened there was one table left.

I must say their portions are quite small; the bowls and dishes are little, but the food is undeniably delicious~ If you’re not very hungry, I recommend everyone come to try it.

I once tried the original Dongyin Kuaidao Shou and thought it was pretty good. Recently, I discovered that they opened a branch near Zhongshan Station, so I rushed over to eat!

For the braised items, I ordered the tofu for $20 and the pork belly for $80. The tofu was tasty, well-marinated, and dipping it in the restaurant's homemade chili paste enhanced the flavor even more! (But it’s really spicy, so please be cautious.) The pork belly was a bit firmer in texture, which I personally didn’t prefer as I like softer meat, so I didn’t enjoy it as much.

Signature noodles for $65.
You can choose between thin noodles or wide noodles; the thin noodles were a bit soft, so next time I might opt for wide noodles. It was served with butter and sesame sauce. Initially, the butter flavor was quite novel, but towards the end, it became a bit greasy due to the strong flavor. For a small bowl of dry noodles, the price is somewhat high, but considering the location near Zhongshan Station, it seems acceptable.

Wonton egg drop soup for $65.
The soup had some crispy shallots added, making it quite cloudy. Although I personally prefer clear soup, the egg drop soup was still quite good. There were six sizable wontons, which was generous, but I felt they had a bit of a pork smell, which I didn’t like.

Overall, I would rate the meal around 75 points. However, since there aren’t many affordable noodle shops near Zhongshan Station, I think this price is fair for me, and I’m willing to keep coming back!
