The dish mainly consists of Japanese-style spaghetti, which has a refreshing taste and a chewy texture. I recommend the mixed seafood spaghetti with cuttlefish and sea urchin, as well as the Neapolitan tomato sauce pasta. The cod roe and sea urchin sauce is rich and does not separate from the pasta.
The atmosphere in the store makes you feel as if you are in a small shop in Japan. The owner and staff are friendly and enthusiastic, providing a pleasant dining experience reminiscent of a Japanese izakaya.
The waitstaff is friendly and stylish, and their service attitude follows the Japanese style. The boss personally cares about the customers' dining satisfaction, making one feel the warmth of home.
Every time Mr. Yilan comes back with the kids, they wait for me at the company after work. In the past, they used to eat at my husband’s favorite noodle shop, Yi Deng, but unfortunately, it closed down recently, so they started to explore new places. Today, I brought them to a Japanese-Italian pasta restaurant that I had eaten at with colleagues several years ago.
The owner of this shop is Japanese, and the staff are all very handsome and stylish. However, beneath their good looks, each server is very friendly, truly inheriting the polite service attitude of Japan. The menu mainly features pasta with seven types of base sauces, primarily Japanese rather than Italian, making the sauces taste lighter and more refreshing. Several dishes are prepared with sautéed ingredients. Today, we ordered the signature squid and sea urchin mixed pasta and the Napoli shrimp pasta. You can pay an extra 10 NT$ to upgrade to a medium bowl or 20 NT$ for a large bowl. Since I brought the kids today, we ordered both dishes in medium size. Previously, there was also a salad available, but unfortunately, it is no longer sold.
I had tried the mentaiko base pasta before and found it delicious, so I ordered it for my husband today and also got the tomato base that my daughter likes. The pasta is, as always, very delicious and chewy. The mentaiko and sea urchin are mixed into the sauce and stir-fried with the pasta, thoroughly coating it and giving it a rich flavor—not like other places where they just sprinkle a bit on top, which sometimes results in the sauce separating from the pasta. The squid is also very tender and chewy. As for the Napoli tomato sauce, it tends to be on the sweeter side, which isn’t really to my preference. They provide Parmesan cheese powder and TABASCO sauce for free, so you can add some to change up the flavor halfway through your meal. Today, we also bought a glass of orange juice. The staff asks if you need ice; if you do, they fill the cup with plenty of ice. It’s really refreshing to drink in the summer, and even the water is served in a pitcher with ice, just like at ramen shops.
This is my third visit, so you can tell how much I like it. The Japanese-Italian pasta is relatively refreshing, focusing less on sauce. Plus, the pasta itself is really delicious. Next time, I want to try the clam or the soy sauce and cream flavor. The only downside is that there are no other side dishes available, which makes the experience feel a bit less rich. But it’s okay to simply savor the deliciousness of the pasta.
The owner sometimes comes over to ask if we are full and if the flavors suit our tastes. It feels like chatting in a little shop in Japan, which is quite nice.
