This time, I visited "CAFE GIANG," a café originating from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, just a 6-minute walk from Motomachi-Chukagai Station! The yellow exterior and tropical-themed green decor make it easy to spot.

"CAFE GIANG," which has its main branch in Hanoi, is the birthplace of "Egg Coffee," invented in 1946 by the current owner's father, Mr. Nguyen Van Zang, who was a bartender at the five-star hotel "Sofitel Legend Metropole" in Hanoi!

What is "Egg Coffee"?
It's a unique coffee experience where a custard-like mixture whipped from egg and sugar is placed on top of the coffee, which you scoop and mix together. The cream is rich and smooth, giving a texture reminiscent of drinking custard or tiramisu. The balance of bitterness and sweetness in this coffee is exquisite. Inspired by the cappuccino made with milk in Italy, it began because milk was expensive, and eggs were used as a substitute.
In Japan, you can enjoy "Egg Coffee" made from uniquely roasted beans imported directly from Vietnam at "CAFE GIANG," as well as a variety of drinks like "Egg Matcha" and "Egg Beer."
Additionally, not only drinks but also meals, such as the famously loved banh mi in Vietnam, are available, allowing you to savor Vietnamese drinks and dishes during breakfast, lunch, or tea time.

"Commitment to Coffee Beans"
The coffee beans used for Egg Coffee are directly imported from Vietnam. They are a unique blend of carefully selected Robusta and Arabica beans. Grown in the Dalat region, developed as a summer resort during the French colonial period, these beans are of high quality, cultivated in a rich environment with minimal pesticides.
We do not use any preservatives or additives, and we roast them in-house, replicating the authentic flavor.

"Commitment to Eggs"
The egg yolks used in the egg cream come from "Tamago-ya Toyomaru" in Chiba, known for their "true eggs." They have a substantial weight, indicating they come from healthy hens. Characterized by their vibrant orange yolks, they have no strange odor or taste, and they hold together even when picked up with chopsticks; truly delicious eggs used generously.

On top of the slightly bitter coffee is a fluffy, sweet cream, so mixing and drinking it together was delicious. The coffee is quite bitter, but the sweet cream balances it out perfectly.

The shop is two floors, creating a warm atmosphere that takes advantage of the warmth of wood. Decorated with houseplants and Southeast Asian-inspired interiors, it offers a different kind of exotic charm from the Chinese ambiance.

Once again, I'm completely satisfied!
Thank you for the meal.
