🥞 Inheriting a 90-year-old brand's rich coffee, and the affordable pancakes create a popular brunch spot in Chinatown ☕️
This café is run in collaboration with a backpacker's hostel on the second floor, inheriting the techniques and traditions of a 90-year-old coffee shop and itself has been open for nearly 30 years. It is said to be the first specialty coffee brand in Yokohama!
The specialty here is the dark roasted coffee, which has a strong bitterness and a rich texture. Although the natural sweetness of the coffee beans will come through after tasting, it is still advisable to order a latte or other beverages if you're not used to this type of coffee.
The most famous item is the freshly made pancakes, not the trendy soufflé or waffle, but rather simple thick pancakes. They have a solid texture with a bit of chewiness, and the butter on top has a slightly salty taste that pairs well with the sweetness of the pancakes.
The basic set for 1,100 yen allows you to choose between maple syrup or honey, and you can also add ice cream or whipped cream. They often have seasonal fruit flavors as well, and you can add more pancake pieces.
This place does great business on weekends; during peak hours, watching rows of pancakes being grilled is very therapeutic 🥞 Their French toast and pudding are also highly recommended!
