The dishes at the Mala Hot Pot are full of surprises, with a mildly spicy flavor and rich ingredients, complemented well by the red tea. The lemon tart has a balanced sweet and sour taste, while the matcha latte has a moderate sweetness with a strong matcha flavor. The Japanese-style BBQ brunch and the sous-vide chicken with cheese have smaller portions and are relatively expensive.
Japanese-style decor, tatami seating, with cat elements throughout. There are many mosquitoes outdoors, so be cautious. The overall atmosphere is warm, providing a relaxing and pleasant feeling. The cats are not afraid of people but may get into fights.
The text translates to: "Providing QR code ordering, payment is required first, and friendly reminders from the staff. Please wait patiently for a table, and staff suggest keeping one person at the table to prevent cats from being curious about the food. Dining is limited to two hours, and socks must be worn inside."
My friend suddenly said on Monday afternoon after class that they wanted to go eat at a cat cafe and have dinner at the same time. Which cat cafes are open during dinner hours? I found this place that has cats in the corner, which happens to meet all our requirements (though it’s a bit far), so we chose it.
I originally thought there wouldn’t be many people on a Monday afternoon, but when we arrived around 4:10 PM, we were told that we could only have a seat at 5:00 PM. We had to make a reservation and then wandered around nearby; we waited almost an hour to get in, but it was not as crowded as when they first opened.
The dining area is all Japanese-style tatami. According to reviews, it’s a renovated old Japanese house with a consistent wooden texture style. Although the cat area is separate from the dining area, the cats tend to wander around near the guests (but not so much when it’s busy). They’re quite unafraid of people, though they might argue with each other XD.

🌻 Japanese BBQ brunch $360
The seasoning is not too salty and the flavor is relatively mild (which I personally like), but the portion is a bit small. Considering the price, the cost-performance ratio is low, which means you might not get full if you treat it as a main meal...
However, the BBQ part is quite tasty, though the scrambled eggs have a stronger eggy taste that I didn’t really like. Overall, it’s acceptable but I wouldn’t particularly recommend it (it’s quite expensive).
My friend ordered:
🌻 Sous vide chicken cheese (Mexican tortilla) $320
I also saw that the portion was on the small side for the price. My friend didn’t mention that it was particularly delicious, so it’s probably just decent? However, it looks quite appealing, so if you’re interested in tortillas, you might want to give it a try.

If you really like cats and Japanese wooden architecture, you can come to check it out, but the meals are indeed quite expensive, and they also charge a 10% service fee. For me, this is a trendy spot I would only visit once…
Tainan's newly opened cat café
Starts operating at 12 noon
It also sells main dish meals
Today, when the door opened at 12, there were available seats
However, there were also many people who made reservations
It is recommended to make a reservation in advance if you plan to come
The interior is decorated in a Japanese style
The seats are all tatami
You need to sit on the floor
Everywhere is filled with cat elements
The downside is that there are more mosquitoes outside
I got bitten by 2 or 3 while waiting to be seated QAQ
Ordering is done through a QR code
After placing the order, you pay first
You can go pet the cats while waiting for your food to be served
The staff recommends that at least one person stays at the table when your food arrives
Otherwise, you might have to share your meal with the cats XD
The cats are all very cute
You can pet them as much as you want; they are not very resistant
Pork Hot Pot (Ma Nai) $280
This was the most surprising dish I had today ❤️
I originally thought $280 was a bit pricey
But since it’s a cat café, I decided to order it and try it out
When it was served, we were shocked
The bowl and lid both have cat designs
The portion was much larger than expected
It’s a prepared small hot pot
It tastes slightly spicy
The ingredients inside are quite rich
The accompanying red tea is served in a cat-themed mug
It tastes like lightly sweetened
The red tea has a great flavor
This dish is definitely worth trying
Lemon Tart $139
The plate has a cat design made with sugar
I ordered it frozen, so it takes a bit of time to thaw
It tastes moderately sweet and sour
Matcha Latte $150
The matcha powder is more pronounced
The sweetness is just right and not bitter
They have many other items on the menu that look delicious
I hope to come again next time to eat and see the cats!
