I happened to walk around Dihua Street and, feeling tired, naturally looked for a place to rest and recharge. Since the weather was quite hot, I eventually opted for an ice shop.

I heard that this tofu pudding shop is quite famous, but I hadn’t had the chance to try it before. Recently, I finally got the opportunity to have a taste.

Since I was a bit tired, I casually ordered some tofu pudding, simply wanting to sit down, enjoy the air conditioning, eat something cold, and take a break.

After placing my order, the food came quickly. The ice was quite sufficient, and it really cooled me down, refreshing both my mood and body.

The level of sweetness was just right; every bite had a sweet flavor.

As for the tofu pudding, it was of the firmer variety, not the soft type. The toppings were quite nice, making it a decent choice for a snack while taking a break.

The store orders and pays directly at the counter, and then finds a seat to sit on. Wait for the number to be called before going to the counter to pick up your meal.

I ordered brown sugar shaved ice, and you can choose from four toppings for $80, but if you choose taro, it will cost you $5 more. Choosing condensed milk counts as one.

Tofu curd is also $55 if you choose any two items, and if you choose taro, it will cost you $5 more.

Brown sugar and condensed milk both have a very good taste. The taro is very large and solid and delicious. The taro balls and mung beans are of the standard you would find in a regular bean curd shaved ice shop.

There are quite a lot of people during meal time, and you have to queue up to order. There happens to be a sink outside where you can wash your hands.

The overall dining experience is pretty good. Sometimes when I pass by, the weather is hot, or I want a dessert, I want to come in and eat.

A very famous Douhua shop in Ningxia night market. It has a history of several decades. Most of the store staff can speak multiple languages ​​(Japanese and English are no problem), and the payment methods are also very diverse. It is a very advanced traditional bean curd shop.

Because there are many customers, whether you are eating in or taking out, you have to take the same line, order first and then take a seat. There is a menu at the queue area so you can check what you want to eat first, and most of the tofu pudding and shaved ice ingredient combinations have been classified and numbered, so ordering can be faster.

This time I ordered the signature "Douhua No. 1", which is the very common tofu pudding + pink balls + peanuts.

I have to say that these simple combinations will never make you tired of eating them. The tofu pudding itself is very smooth, but you can taste the original solid feeling of soybeans. It is an ancient-style tofu pudding where you can taste the raw materials! The rice balls are elastic without being too separated from other foods, and they won't stick to your teeth. The peanuts are as expected. Overall, the bean curd is very in line with expectations, and the price of a bowl is not too expensive, so I highly recommend coming here to try their signature bean curd!
