▶ Eel Sashimi $580 ◀
They have been parboiled using a special method, so you don’t have to worry about the risk of food poisoning. The texture of the eel is very chewy, quite different from other sashimi; it’s harder to bite through but still easy to eat, very unique!! There are three sauces on the side: the white miso is sweet, the orange vinegar sauce is both sour and salty, and the wasabi soy sauce has a more familiar taste if you're used to eating sashimi! I highly recommend this dish because you really can't find it elsewhere!!

▶ Extra Large Grilled Eel Set $630 ◀
This one is grilled with a sweet sauce, and there isn't too much sauce, so it’s not overly sweet. For the first bite, eat it plain, and for the second, pair it with wasabi and scallion. Their rice is cooked really well, and the eel paired with wasabi unexpectedly enhances the flavor! For the third bite, add some broth and seaweed; after adding the broth, the eel becomes tender with another level of taste!!

▶ Plum Grilled Eel Set $680 ◀
This style is grilled without any sauce. The skin of the eel is crispy, but the flesh is very tender. For the first bite, eat it plain to appreciate the smoky flavor of the eel. For the second bite, you can pair it with scallions and plum sauce, which is a very unique combination! The plum sauce is salty and reminiscent of traditional Japanese bento boxes! Lastly, paired with plum broth, it tastes a bit salty on its own, but it complements the rice perfectly!! It has a very special flavor, and I recommend everyone to give it a try~

📍Zhongshan District, Taipei City
A fresh eel specialty shop with a strong Japanese style 🐟🇯🇵

This is my favorite eel restaurant that I've visited several times. Before trying this type of grilled eel from the Kansai region, I never imagined I would enjoy eel rice so much 🤣

Compared to the kabayaki style, this charcoal-grilled type offers a taste of the grill that is very close to the flavors found locally in Japan. I highly recommend it to those who don't usually like eel; it might change your perception.

The shop uses live, wiggling eels. You can see the chef killing and grilling the eels from outside the window, making the wait time enjoyable.

🐟 Extra large eel rice set ($630):
The three styles of eel are highly recommended!
I suggest ordering the largest bowl because there are many variations in the three styles, and even those with smaller appetites can finish it!

The eel is deliciously rich, full of flavor, with a strong charcoal aroma and a slightly crispy texture.

First bite: Savor the aroma of the eel itself.
Second bite: Add some wasabi, shredded nori, and chopped scallions for a flavor twist.
Third bite: Add broth! This is my favorite way to eat it; it's very comforting and warms the stomach.

🍄
Will I return: Yes!
Although the prices at this restaurant have increased a lot in recent years and the presentation of the eel this time wasn't as appealing, it's still a great choice that I can't forget when craving eel in Taiwan.
