This pastry shop offers a variety of traditional pastries. The white bean paste-filled cake has a smooth texture and is not overly sweet, while the sun cake has a sugary texture, but it differs slightly from the authentic Taichung sun cake. The dragon桂 pastry is similar to a butter cookie, but its value for money is relatively low.
The interior decoration has an artsy style that has attracted quite a few customers. The atmosphere is lively and filled with a blend of traditional and modern vibes.
There is a need to line up at checkout, indicating its popularity. Additionally, since it only accepts cash, it may slightly affect the convenience for customers. The waiting time is about 1 minute.
Student Snack - What to Eat
Today I visited a bakery near Dadaocheng
Crossroad Pavilion
★ Menu:
Dragon Fruit Pastry $55
★ Thoughts:
I chose this mainly because I saw many Japanese tourists carefully picking several of these. I couldn't tell what it was at the time, but I thought it might be impressive, so I bought one to eat. However, after tasting it, I found it had a texture similar to a peach crisp and also reminiscent of butter cookies, but the butter filling was only a thin layer.
Honestly, for $55, I was a bit disappointed. I originally expected it to be like Japanese butter cream-filled snacks, or for the cookie to have something special. But it was just like a butter cookie, and the value for $55 was quite low. (Maybe the filling is amazing? Who knows.)
The shopkeeper said their specialty is the mung bean cake (sweet). I'll try that next time I pass by, but I might choose the red date paste first.

📍 Taipei City, Datong District (Dadaocheng Business Circle)
Established since 1930 | A wide variety of traditional pastry shop 🥮🥠
This shop seems to be a famous place in the Dadaocheng area. There were many people inside when I passed by, and the decor fits the artsy style of Dadaocheng very well.
There are super many pastry items, mainly Taiwanese/Chinese, with lots of rare varieties. This time I bought a ton with my mom, probably because the Mid-Autumn Festival is coming, and many people are buying gift boxes! We had to queue for a while to check out.
Below are key items selected for introduction:
🫘 White Bean Paste Cake ($50):
As soon as you enter, you see a variety of fillings in cakes. This is the traditional mooncake appearance, and it's the best one I bought this time! The bean paste made from white phoenix beans is light in color and has a smooth, not overly sweet texture.
🌞 Sun Cake:
Frosted texture, tastes like malt candy, but compared to the authentic sun cakes from Taichung, it seems to lack a certain flavor.
🥮 Wife Cake:
Tastes similar to the previous sun cake, but with an added chewy texture that is quite nice.
🥭 Mango Rice Roll ($40):
Selected from ready-made rice skin, the outer skin is a bit dry, and the filling consists of marinated mango instead of fresh mango.
