Student Snack - What to Eat
Today I visited a bakery near Dadaocheng
Crossroad Pavilion
★ Menu:
Dragon Fruit Pastry $55
★ Thoughts:
I chose this mainly because I saw many Japanese tourists carefully picking several of these. I couldn't tell what it was at the time, but I thought it might be impressive, so I bought one to eat. However, after tasting it, I found it had a texture similar to a peach crisp and also reminiscent of butter cookies, but the butter filling was only a thin layer.
Honestly, for $55, I was a bit disappointed. I originally expected it to be like Japanese butter cream-filled snacks, or for the cookie to have something special. But it was just like a butter cookie, and the value for $55 was quite low. (Maybe the filling is amazing? Who knows.)
The shopkeeper said their specialty is the mung bean cake (sweet). I'll try that next time I pass by, but I might choose the red date paste first.
