Located near Exit 2 of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, "Tsukishima Monjayaki" is a restaurant specializing in Japanese monjayaki, offering an authentic Japanese culinary experience.
Monjayaki is a dish made by mixing various ingredients and slowly grilling them on a hot griddle, forming a thin, slightly crispy pancake-like food. Its uniqueness lies in the production process and rich layers of texture, allowing diners to enjoy the freshness of the ingredients while savoring the aroma created during cooking.
The monjayaki at "Tsukishima Monjayaki" has a mild flavor but a rich texture, soft and sticky with a slight crispness, perfectly preserving the original taste of the ingredients. This restaurant not only serves monjayaki but also offers classic okonomiyaki and modern-yaki, among other Japanese teppanyaki dishes. Okonomiyaki is thick and hearty, with a rich flavor enhanced by abundant ingredients, while modern-yaki combines okonomiyaki with fried noodles, blending the elasticity of the noodles with the crispy aroma of the pancake, tempting diners' taste buds.
Monjayaki has a unique texture, light and delicate, making it particularly suitable for those who appreciate the original flavor of the ingredients. However, many prefer modern-yaki with added noodles for a richer texture and bolder flavor, bringing a stronger sense of satisfaction and evoking familiar memories. Whether you prefer light or rich flavors, "Tsukishima Monjayaki" can satisfy your taste buds, allowing you to relish a feast of Japanese teppanyaki cuisine.
This restaurant has been famous for a long time. After all, I have tried Okonomiyaki and Hiroshima yaki. What does Monja yaki taste like?
As soon as you enter the dining area, there is a smell of cooking food, and there is a huge iron plate on the table. When the store clerk helped stir the ingredients for Monja Yaki, we also encouraged us to try it ourselves (just like being a Teppanyaki master😂), after all, it would not affect the quality of the final meal.
You need to use a small shovel to manually dig out the cooked ingredients on the iron plate to eat. Usually, you don't use a "public shovel". This way of sharing food is only suitable for family members and friends who know each other well😅
The characteristic of Monja-yaki ingredients is that during the cooking process, the middle is hollowed out, the soup is poured in, and finally stirred evenly. Therefore, it has an obvious salty taste when eaten, and the dough is almost like a rice cake. The standard method is to roll it up and allow individuals to add their own seafood ingredients. It tastes delicious.
Monjamoniyaki can be said to be "food that you can eat and play with at the same time." My friend was having a great time, so we couldn’t help but ask him:
"Did your mother tell you not to play with food when you were little?"
Since we can only cook one dish one by one and finish eating before cooking the next dish, it was already an hour before the third dish was cooked. The last dish is Hiroshima yaki. The staff will cook it directly on site. Pan-sear the bacon pig, then combine the fried noodles with bonito and egg liquid, and top it with mayonnaise. It will also be made into a heart shape. It has a full burnt aroma and a more complex taste. , I personally like it better than text burning.
The red bean mochi soup served last was mainly warm and sweet, the soup was light, the surface of the mochi was slightly roasted but not crusty, and the presentation was average.
The dining environment is on the hot side. If you sit a little closer to the table, you will feel the heat of the iron plate that is continuously heating. The indoor air conditioner and fan are only useful.
The service was very user-friendly. The customer at the previous table left late, causing us to wait for a while. The clerk immediately offered to bring drinks and talked about how he had been working as a work-study student for ten years. I love Harry.
