"The 'Sulfur' features French toast as its star dish, with outstanding dessert performance, especially the '17-hour French Toast,' which is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a rich egg and milk flavor. The coffee-flavored French toast is suitable for coffee lovers, with moderate sweetness and a rich texture."
The atmosphere of the bistro is filled with Korean-style trends, and the interior design is unique and interesting, providing customers with a delightful dining experience.
In terms of service, although some reviews did not mention it, some ratings indicate that the overall service of the restaurant is quite good, making it worth trying other dishes again in the future.
Located in Taipei, "Sulfur" is a café that specializes in French toast, and this was my second visit. The last time, I tried their savory dishes, which were average, so this time I decided to focus on their signature French toast in the dessert category. The result indeed showcased the care put into dessert making, especially in the texture and flavor of the French toast, which was commendable.
First, we had the "17-Hour French Toast". As the name suggests, this toast has been soaked for a long time and baked at low temperatures, resulting in a slightly crispy outside and a soft, moist interior. The rich egg and milk aroma, coupled with a pudding-like thick texture, were the most impressive aspects of this dessert. Paired with vanilla ice cream and honey, the sweetness is noticeable but not overwhelming. For those who usually prefer sweeter flavors, they can add more honey; however, I personally found the original sweetness to be quite sufficient, perhaps even a tad too sweet 🍯. The only small regret was that the cinnamon aroma was somewhat weak; a bit more cinnamon would have added more depth to the fragrance. The banana served alongside felt a bit lonely and didn't connect strongly with the toast itself, seeming more like an accessory on the plate, but that didn't detract from the overall experience.
Next was the "Floating Iced Coffee French Toast". This dessert is clearly designed for coffee lovers. The intense coffee flavor has a bitter undertone that contrasts sharply with the eggy milk flavor of the toast, resulting in a significantly lower overall sweetness, making it a version of French toast with more adult flavors. Although the toast itself isn't as smooth and rich as the 17-hour variant, the addition of coffee provides moisture and aroma, complemented by the temperature contrast with the ice cream, yielding a more layered texture ☕️.
Overall, "Sulfur's" desserts outshine their savory dishes in showcasing the chef’s style, especially with the solid fundamentals of French toast, perfectly balanced in moisture and flavor. I recommend first-time visitors start with the dessert series, especially those who enjoy a rich milky taste and moist texture — don’t miss the "17-Hour French Toast". If you're a coffee lover, you might also want to try the "Floating Iced Coffee," which offers a slightly bitter and mature version!
Today, I wanted to stop by Mingyue to try eating there. I ordered a serving of fried chicken strips and a latte. The fried chicken strips were $250, but unexpectedly small in portion. Since I was really hungry, I forgot to take a photo of how it looked when it first arrived. There were about 5 or 6 pieces in total, and honestly, they were the worst fried chicken strips I've ever had. The skin wasn't crispy and was even a bit tough, and the meat was super dry and bland. Every single piece left me feeling disappointed... However, the pickled onions on the side were very tasty. The hot latte was surprisingly large and quite aromatic, so I would recommend that! I noticed many people come here to order French toast, so I give it 3 stars. I'll probably come back to try other items, but for just the chicken strips, I can only give it 1.5 stars.
I happened to pass by by chance and found a newly opened cafe. It has coffee, desserts and meals. It is currently offering a 10% discount for takeaways in trial operation. The recipe beans are medium roasted, and the American style is delicious and smooth. The front part has a lemon black tea feel, and the middle and back parts It is a medium-roasted chocolate flavor👍. It tastes very refreshing and smooth overall. I recommend it to friends who like to drink American style!
Come for Christmas dinner~ If there was a lottery, it’s a pity that I didn’t win~
A newly opened restaurant and restaurant, the atmosphere inside is more Korean and trendy, and there are many cool little designs that are great😎
The Christmas meal for four people was very good, including fried beef balls, grilled chicken sausages, and dessert. The grilled chicken was delicious, especially with the coriander-flavored dipping sauce~
There are also delicious mulled wine and extra-large milkshakes to choose from~
