Seoul's Solo Food Journey - Highly recommended red bean buns by LNG!

As a longtime LNG fan, coming to Korea means I definitely have to visit Bird Shit’s beloved shop ❤️. I arrived alone at Eulji Dumplings on a Monday afternoon, and there weren't many people in the store, so there were plenty of seats. After telling the staff that I was dining alone, they said it was okay and directed me to the automated ordering machine at the entrance.

The ordering machine has options in Korean, English, and Japanese, and there’s a paper menu next to it in Chinese.

🥟 Spicy Dumplings ₩ 8000/8 pieces
That translates to about TWD 22 each, not exactly cheap. They were steaming hot when they arrived, with thin, almost transparent dumpling skin that had a slight stickiness to it, and didn't become too hard when cooled. The filling tasted somewhat similar to the Korean dumplings at Ba Fang, but these were a bit more refined with a stronger flavor. There was a dipping soy sauce that had a tangy taste, which enhanced the flavor further.

🫘 Red Bean Buns ₩ 6000/3 pieces
I thought I had to order at least three because the buns were small, but each one was actually a normal size! 😵 The sweetness of the filling was just right, not at all cloying, and you could still taste the natural granules of the red beans, which melted in your mouth. The skin was of moderate thickness, with a subtle salty aroma that balanced the sweetness of the filling. Overall, it had a moist and soft texture. It’s a delicious red bean bun, but ultimately, it's still just a red bean bun. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth making a special trip just for this.

Overall, the meal was satisfying, but as a solo diner, I found it a bit troublesome. While it’s possible to sit alone, items like the red bean buns require a minimum order of three, and the dumplings require at least eight...
