I found out that there is a delicious restaurant in Namba where you can enjoy fresh whitebait rice bowls and reasonably priced evening course menus, so I went to check it out! 🐟

It's called Kinchakuyasan Namba, located in Namba City at Namba Comejiroshi. 🐟

It’s within walking distance from Namba Station on various lines. 🚃

The large fish sign is easy to spot, and the restaurant has a wooden interior with both table and counter seating. ✨

It's a welcoming place for families and solo diners alike. ✨

You can enjoy fresh fish brought from the market in Kishiwada. I was surprised at how much fish they catch in Kishiwada!‼️

For drinks, I chose:
Cassis Orange 🍊
Draft beer 🍺

I ordered the restaurant's signature seafood course: 🐟

  • Whitebait side
  • Whitebait simmered in soy sauce
  • Sashimi platter (4 kinds)
  • Tempura platter (4 kinds)

It was filled generously with freshly boiled whitebait in a wooden box. It was delicious on its own and also paired well with lemon and soy sauce.

The whitebait simmered in soy sauce: 🐟
This too was served in a wooden box. The rich seasoning made the sweet and spicy whitebait perfect with rice or sake. 🐟

The sashimi platter: 🐟
It included tuna, sea bream, and salmon, served with sudachi to squeeze over. ✨
All the fish was fresh, rich, and delicious! 🐟

The tempura platter (4 kinds): 🐟

  • Whiting 🐟
  • Anago (conger eel) 🐟
  • Oyster 🦪
  • Lotus root
  • Shrimp chips 🦐
    Each tempura was freshly made, crispy, and fluffy, and they were all delicious. 🐟

The simmered red tongue fish: (*may change depending on the fresh catch)
The meat was fluffy and the skin was melt-in-your-mouth soft, with great flavor! The thick tofu and burdock root served with it were also tasty.

Three kinds of nigiri sushi 🍣:

  • Hamachi
  • Salmon
  • Sea bream
    They were substantial in size and very satisfying. 🐟

The whitebait soup: 🐟
This soup was filled with plenty of whitebait. 🐟
The dashi was delicious, and the whitebait was soft and flavorful. 🐟

It was a voluminous, delicious, and reasonably priced course! 🐟

The famous original fresh whitebait rice bowl from Kinchakuyasan was ¥1,000.
It featured the delicious whitebait renowned as the best from Osaka Bay, served over rice with:

  • Plenty of fresh whitebait 🐟
  • Egg yolk
  • Green onions
  • Shiso leaves
  • Shredded nori

I broke the egg yolk over the dish and mixed it in. 🥚
The fresh whitebait was incredibly delicious, and I was truly impressed! ✨
The egg yolk added richness, and it tasted amazing. 🥚
The sauce was sweet and matched the whitebait perfectly.
The generous portion of rice was satisfying! ✨
The flavors of the green onions, shiso, and shredded nori were also delightful. ✨

The special Kinchakuyasan sauce for the whitebait bowl on the table was sweet and delicious! ✨

The evening set meal advertised at the restaurant also looked appetizing! ✨
