The shrimp soup base is clear and sweet, the shrimp is Q-shaped and chewy, the fish crispy soup has a rich satay flavor, the stinky tofu is crispy on the outside, and the blanched vegetables have a strong taste.
The decor inside the restaurant is simple, suitable for quick dining, and the overall atmosphere is unpretentious.
The boss lady runs the kitchen by herself, the food is served quickly, and the service efficiency is high.
This is "Shangyuan Flower Branch" near Jingmei Night Market. It's a small place managed by the owner, who cooks alone, but the food comes out surprisingly quickly.
We ordered shrimp soup noodles, fish crack soup, stinky tofu, and blanched vegetables.
The shrimp soup noodle broth is sweet, and the shrimp itself is Q (springy) and delicious, but the noodles are a bit bland on their own; it’s recommended to mix them with the broth for more flavor. The fish crack soup has a generous dollop of satay sauce added on top, giving it a rich flavor that's not overwhelming.
The stinky tofu has a crispy outer layer and a strong flavor, but the inside is not really my preferred texture, as it is a bit too firm for me. The pickled cabbage is spicy and pairs well with the basil, creating a robust aroma.
The blanched vegetables simply come with soy sauce, and the flavor is quite sufficient, making it a reliable side dish.
Overall, it’s a classic restaurant with minimal decor but good food, fast service, and reasonable prices, suitable for those looking to quickly have a meal with some hot soup and noodles.
Google's business hours are not accurate; the public holidays written on site take precedence. Only the owner is working, and they close when they sell out.
🔹 Shrimp Noodle Soup $60
It’s a bit on the sweet side; you can add vinegar to adjust the taste. Although prices have increased slightly compared to before, the ingredients have not shrunk!
🔸 Fish Fillet Soup $55
The broth used to be dark-colored; the satay sauce should probably have been cooked together, but now they just put the satay sauce on top of the basil. It feels like the flavor is lacking, and it tastes similar to other soups.
🔹 Hong Kong-style Crispy Stinky Tofu $55
The skin is crispy and tasty, but I preferred the previous type of Taiwanese pickled vegetables that weren't spicy or sweet; I'm not used to this kind of red pickled vegetable.
🔸 Blanched Vegetables $30
It depends on what is available that day; we chose water spinach. It's not overcooked and is delicious with the braising sauce. The flavor is just right, not too salty or greasy—it's excellent!
