潮丼日式定食

4.0
4 reviews
Japanese | NT$190-NT$220

AI Spot Summary

The variety of meal options is diverse; the grilled beef bowl and the grilled scallop and smoked salmon bowl taste good, but the side dishes like frozen broccoli and sweet potatoes affect the overall experience. The salt-grilled mackerel is a bit dry and not recommended.

The store environment is clean and bright, but the hygiene situation is concerning. The restroom has a strong odor and there are small cockroaches and fruit flies present. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance to avoid waiting.

The service staff is friendly and attentive, proactively informing about the dishes when ordering, and the food is served quite quickly.

First, the conclusion: #Taipei Mackay Donburi
#The food is not bad but the hygiene is concerning 😦
Ordering time: Friday 6:00 PM
Waiting time: 0! (35% occupancy)
Waiting for food: 10 minutes
Payment options: Cash, QR code payment

Here are the items ordered and their prices 🔻
🔺Classic Grilled Pork Don $130
The grilled beef sauce is a bit sweet but still tasty. Besides a soft-boiled egg, there are no other toppings, which feels somewhat empty.
🔺Seared Scallop and Smoked Salmon Don $280
One scallop and five slices of smoked salmon. The scallop has a nice seared aroma and is cooked just right, while I personally enjoy the semi-raw smoked salmon with its burst of fat. The accompaniments of broccoli and sweet potato are both cold, especially the sweet potato which wasn't fully thawed and tasted strange. There's also half a soft-boiled egg and some corn, giving it a very Taiwanese feel.
🔺Tempura Shrimp Don $180
Three fried shrimp with a crispy batter and firm shrimp meat.
🔺Grilled Chicken Leg Don $180
Approximately six large pieces of grilled chicken leg, cooked perfectly without being dry, very tasty.
🔺Salt-Grilled Mackerel $140
This is highly not recommended ❎ It’s better to buy it raw and air fry it... overall it’s quite dry, and there’s no lemon provided.
🔺Karaage Fried Chicken $130
A serving with four large pieces, fried just right, still retaining juiciness and tender meat, it goes well with yellow mustard and shichimi pepper.
🔺Croquette $50
A serving cut in half, with a single flavor option which is curry, just average.

The indoor seating accommodates about 26 people, and the restroom has a strong odor 😨
Halfway through the meal, I noticed a small cockroach crawling on the edge of the plate.
There were also continuously fruit flies 🪰 making their presence known.
The miso soup at the self-service area had no ingredients and the broth was super sweet (?).

The Japanese rice bowl specialty store we visited today is located near Shuanglian Station. It is only a 3-minute walk from Exit 2. There are not many tables in the store, only 6 tables for four. When we arrive at the store around 7pm on weekdays, we are already close to customers. Full

Here they sell a variety of rice bowls such as roasted pork rice bowls, parent-child rice bowls, Tangyang chicken rice bowls, chicken leg steak rice bowls, fried shrimp rice bowls, eel rice bowls, steak rice bowls, etc. If you don’t want to eat, you can also choose from soup udon noodles.

Little reminder🔔
Their "Classic Yakiniku Don" uses beef! We originally ordered a roast pork donburi, but my friend actually doesn’t eat beef. Fortunately, the waiter carefully informed us when ordering.

There is a notice on the wall of the store reminding you that every meal is cooked to order and takes 10-20 minutes. I was already mentally prepared to wait for a long time, but the meal was served in about 5 minutes.

There is free miso soup for you to drink inside. Miso soup is pure soup with almost no ingredients. You can only eat very finely chopped tofu. It tastes ordinary and salty.

We ordered Crispy Fried Miso Peppa Pig Donburi $170 and Cumin Matsusaka Peppa Pig Donburi $180
Although the names are both Peppa pigs, one is actually fried pork cutlet and the other is pan-fried Matsusaka pork. Both staple foods are quite delicious.
The miso sauce of the fried pork cutlet is quite strong and goes well with rice. The pork cutlet is fried very crispy but not greasy. But compared to the two, I prefer the cumin Matsusaka pork because it is more special. The quality of the Matsusaka pork is very good and the meat is cooked The powder is very fragrant and the portions are generous. Highly recommended!

BUT! This is BUT!
The side dishes for donburi are terrible... Today's side dishes are sesame broccoli, kimchi, bamboo shoots, and half a soft-boiled egg. Except for the soft-boiled egg, which is OK, the other side dishes are not very good.
The cauliflower tastes like it was frozen or cooked for too long. It is not crispy at all, very watery and soft, and has a very poor taste. The chikuwa only comes in a small piece and is cold. The kimchi also tastes ordinary. Not the kind of kimchi that makes people want to eat it all the time

Overall, I think the staple food is pretty good and the performance is average. If the side dishes are okay, I think the price is very affordable. But because I am not satisfied with the side dishes, I think the CP value is average.

I’d give the Matsusaka pork four stars, the tonkatsu three stars, and the side dishes only two stars. Overall, I’d give it a decent three stars.
