Little Wang's braised pork rice serves an impressive portion, with the braised pork being particularly large, while the minced pork rice is somewhat bland. Overall, the flavor is quite standard, lacking anything particularly stunning, but the braised pork rice has a high cost-performance ratio.
Xiao Wang Zhu Gua is an old-established braised pork rice restaurant located on Huaxi Street in Taipei. The atmosphere is traditional, and it has been recommended by the Michelin Bib Gourmand, making it suitable for customers who love classic Taiwanese snacks.
No specific service evaluation is provided, but as a time-honored restaurant, the service should maintain a certain level of quality.

One time I saw on a delivery platform that they actually had delivery! I've always wanted to try it but hadn’t had the chance to visit, so I decided to give it a try.
(The following are prices on the Uber platform; in-store prices are unknown)
▪️ Braised Pork Rice Bento $178
▪️ Minced Pork Rice Bento $124
To be able to enjoy this on a delivery platform is already great. To think it can be delivered across a bridge is quite surprising. I was shocked to see the portion of braised pork – it was super huge... like a giant sort of surprised me 🤣 I originally thought that since it was from a famous restaurant, the portions for delivery would be average, but it turned out to be quite large!
Overall, in terms of flavor, I feel it's standard and not particularly impressive. After eating, my lips felt sticky, but I still think the flavor could be just a bit better... I hope to have the chance to enjoy it at the physical store.
However, in terms of pricing, the braised pork rice is definitely worth a lot more than the minced pork rice, just for reference.
Among the two terminals of Taoyuan Airport, Terminal 2 has many more interesting shops than Terminal 1; this time I did my homework and found a lot of delicious food in C3 of Terminal 2. After I sent my luggage, I immediately went there without saying a word. I headed to the c3 food court and chose Xiao Wang’s Boiled Melon, a restaurant recommended by Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Dining at the airport will definitely be more expensive. A No. 1 meal costs 260 yuan, which includes a bowl of rice, a bowl of soup, three side dishes and a bottle of cold brew tea. I think the price is not bad.
The whole meal tastes like a northern one, with a lot of saltiness. The rice grains of the pork rice are clearly grainy and not soft. The sauce is very fragrant and goes well with every rice grain. The soup also tastes salty and peppery. It has a lot of flavor but is quite fragrant, and the meat soup is also very big and delicious.

"There are a thousand Hamlets in the hearts of a thousand people."
Similarly: "A thousand Taiwanese people also have a thousand bowls of braised pork rice in their hearts."
Personally, I think Xiao Wang’s boiled melons are overly praised⋯⋯
If you say this is the best braised pork rice in Taipei, then I...🤷
Xiao Wang's Braised Pork Rice is a time-honored braised pork rice restaurant located on Huaxi Street in Taipei. It was once recommended as a snack by Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019. Now, in addition to Taipei, there are also branches in the food court in Area C of Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 (Control Area).
In my opinion:
🤷 Mushroom braised pork rice
The rice itself is not sweet enough, the marinade is a bit too salty, and the rice itself is not bad, it should be textbook-level rice. It would be better if I put more mushrooms and braised pork. I see a lot of them in photos and others on the Internet...
🤷 Melon seed soup
This one tastes better than I expected. The soup is a bit spicy, but not too spicy. There are pieces of meat in it, so it actually tastes pretty good. Isn’t this soup the main part of it?
🔱 Side dishes
It's braised cabbage and tofu. The taste is average, nothing special...
