Curry Wu is a small popular restaurant in Hsinchu's curry scene, located near the large Far Eastern Department Store, but the dining threshold is not low—you definitely need to arrive early. If you miss the peak time, waiting is almost inevitable. This visit was my second, and I could better understand why people are willing to queue again.

Let's talk about the curry itself. Curry Wu's curry is smooth and mild, with a noticeable natural sweetness from apples when you take a bite. The spices are not overpowering, the layers are not complex, but the balance is excellent—it's the kind of curry that you won't get tired of from the first bite to the last.

The "Karaage Chicken Curry" is quite delightful. The karaage chicken has a crispy exterior and juicy meat inside; it's already good enough to enjoy on its own, and it's even more enjoyable when paired with the curry. The portion of chicken is generous, not just a sidekick. It’s worth mentioning the owner's interaction style, who, while serving, jokingly said, "If it’s not good, you can get your money back," which instead conveys a sense of confidence and charming sincerity about the food.

The "Pork Cutlet Curry" is one of the restaurant's strengths. The pork cutlet is truly large and not just puffed up; it has substantial thickness and looks beautiful when cut. The exterior is fried crispy without being hard, and the meat retains moisture and elasticity, completely avoiding the dryness issue. Paired with the smooth curry, the taste and portion are very satisfying, making you nod in agreement that "this is worth queuing for."

The complimentary ice cream after the meal was an unexpected bonus. The matcha flavor is not overly sweet and is refreshing to eat; in contrast, the milk flavor is slightly sweeter but still acceptable. As a free ending, it is very sincere and provides a comfortable conclusion to the meal.

Overall, Curry Wu does not take an extravagant or innovative approach but focuses on doing curry, fried foods, and portions well. The owner's personality, the consistent quality of the dishes, along with the sincerely prepared meals, make people willing to return. As long as you time it right, this is definitely a curry restaurant worth revisiting.
