A friend brought me food to an izakaya in Taipei's East District. It's not cheap but the taste is pretty good. Some of the dishes are a little surprising!
Almost every time I go to an izakaya, I will definitely order fried water lilies, but the fried water lilies in Oraku was really the first time I tried it! It has a soup-like feel. The sauce is white and should be filled with cream or milk. The overall taste has a light milky aroma and is very smooth and not greasy. A must-try for those who like water lotus!
The mentaiko potatoes are also great. It's not potato slices topped with mentaiko, but a whole bowl of mashed potatoes filled with mentaiko. It's so satisfying to eat that you won't be able to stop eating it.
As for vegetables, the grilled zucchini is really just right. It retains moisture but is slightly burnt on the surface, which is perfect! ♡︎
The meat skewers were good, but not particularly impressive, and the halibut sushi was pretty good! I might try sashimi and sushi next time~
This is a restaurant that I would take my friends to if I want to go to an izakaya when I come to Higashi Ward! The two girls were super full today, a little too full 😂
