Suido Chōbu is quite a popular restaurant in the vicinity of the Taipei City Hall, to the point where it has nearly become a signature eatery. If you want to eat here, be mentally prepared for the time investment—this time, I drew a number at 6:30 PM and didn't get seated until 7:30 PM, making the wait time quite lengthy, which defined the overall experience from the start with a "queue threshold." If you don't want to go empty-handed, arriving early is almost a prerequisite.

The meal focuses on curry and various fried items and hamburgers. The curry itself is reasonably stable—it has a nice aroma of spices and moderate thickness, but the flavor takes a safe route, lacking particularly strong memorable points. By itself, the curry is not bad, but after a long wait and high expectations, it can easily feel somewhat ordinary.

The hamburgers, however, offer more room for discussion.
The pork hamburger patty is soft with fine meat quality; the fat content is well controlled, making it easy to eat without being dry—a version that is quite acceptable.
The beef hamburger patty, on the other hand, is contrary to expectations. It has a firmer texture compared to the pork version, with a noticeable meatiness. While it doesn't melt in your mouth, it surprisingly has a strong presence, better suiting those who enjoy the feeling of "eating meat."

Among the fried items, the fried tenderloin performs the best. The outer layer is crispy but not thick, while the meat inside retains tenderness; the oil temperature is properly controlled, and even when paired with curry, it doesn't feel greasy—this is relatively one of the more satisfying dishes in the entire meal.

Overall, the meal quality at Suido Chōbu is stable, with each component of fried items and hamburgers having its highlights, but the curry itself isn't at a level where it’s a must-eat. Whether it’s worth the long wait depends on your expectations for this type of Japanese curry and hamburger. If you can avoid peak hours, the experience will be more reasonable.
