I have been here many times, and whenever I want to eat something with a similar mala flavor in Japan, I come here.
The ordering process here involves choosing the broth and spice level first, and then you can select all the side dishes and ingredients yourself. There are also a few preset combinations available.
I usually choose spice level 3 or 4; 4 is considered quite spicy, and I end up drinking three to four cups of ice water.
The rice noodles themselves have a refreshing and smooth texture, which makes eating spicy food less heavy and overwhelming. I especially like to add wood ear mushrooms and cabbage for a crisper texture, which adds more depth to the dish!
This time, I also ordered meatballs, which tasted very similar to Taiwanese meatballs, with a meaty texture and soaked in broth, making it very satisfying to eat.
