🥢 Chiayi West District▫️ Around Cultural Road Night Market
🥢 A restaurant serving grilled eel dishes with a delightful charcoal flavor
I've been to Chiayi so many times
I can hardly forget the deliciousness of charcoal-grilled eel noodles🔥
The first place I tried has already closed down
Last time I visited, I went to another restaurant, Luoshan
This time, once again following the recommendation of the homestay owner
I decided to try this hidden gem of an eel noodle shop🌟
—
Walking along the alley, I hadn’t noticed the sign yet
But I could already smell the enticing aroma of charcoal grilling
The small shop has a very traditional and old-fashioned vibe
You can see traces of time everywhere
There aren’t many seats inside
When we arrived, the elderly lady asked us to order outside and wait
Because we weren’t sure about the portion sizes
Plus, there were other dishes we wanted to try later
We decided to order a medium portion of noodles along with two dishes to share with my partner✌🏻
➰ Stir-fried Eel Noodles (medium) 150
The noodles are like those used in teppanyaki, not the regular Italian spaghetti
It’s different from what I've had in Kaohsiung and Tainan
Every bite is not overshadowed by sweetness or wok hei
Only the pure aroma of charcoal and the food itself
However, the portion is slightly small, and the overall price is on the high side
Otherwise, it’s quite special and delicious
➰ Stir-fried Eel with Sesame Oil 200
This dish also has the issue of being on the expensive side
The eel is cut into small pieces
Stir-fried with fragrant old ginger in sesame oil
The taste is rich and perfect for enjoying in winter
➰ Fried Squid Balls 100
This dish was also recommended by the homestay owner
A total of five medium-sized squid balls
Each ball has the texture of squid
Instead of being ground into a paste
Be careful as they come to the table so hot that they are almost inedible
The restaurant offers free bonito fish broth 🉑 A nice refill
However, the air conditioning in the shop isn’t strong, so by the end of the meal, we were sweating profusely
Additionally, the space is cramped, making us want to finish quickly and leave
But the owner had a good attitude, completely lacking the arrogance of some old establishments
It gives you a feeling of being back at your grandmother's old house in the countryside
Next time I go to Chiayi, I will probably try another eel restaurant
If I have the chance, I’ll share my thoughts with everyone✨
