Asan Canteen is located on Linkou Street in the Xinyi District of Taipei City, near Songshan Commercial School. It's about a ten-minute walk to the Yongchun MRT station, so the location is fairly convenient.
#Open during the Lunar New Year
From the first to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the hours are 11:30 AM to 12:00 AM.
Today, I took out spinach beef, braised bamboo shoots, and shrimp egg fried rice, costing 350 NTD.
Spinach Beef:
The cooking of the beef is well-controlled, tender with a fresh texture, and the sauce is salty and rich, making it very flavorful with rice. The spinach is cooked quite soft, losing some of its freshness and sweetness, but paired with the sauce, it still has a strong flavor.
Shrimp Egg Fried Rice:
The rice is distinct and not greasy. The amount of shrimp is not huge, but they have a bouncy texture, complemented by the egg aroma and green onion, making it simply satisfying.
Braised Bamboo Shoots:
A cold side dish, the bamboo shoots are braised until soft and flavorful, with a rich sweet sauce. A sprinkle of cilantro on top adds a touch of freshness. The taste is quite standard.
Overall, it's a moderately average snack shop. You don’t need to go out of your way to visit, but for the local residents who work, study, or live nearby, it might be a decent option.
I recommend it to everyone.
