The super amazing sweet potato ball fried food stall at Keelung Temple Night Market 🍢🍠
The Keelung Temple Night Market during the Lunar New Year is incredibly crowded! On my way to get a sausage, I stumbled upon this inconspicuous little stall, surrounded by dozens of people intently watching the owner fry sweet potato balls 🤣
I asked the customers around and learned that I first needed to place an order with the owner and get a number before I could eat 😂
Also, the owner moves slowly, and although they sell taro cakes, sweet potato balls, and sesame balls, they only fry one kind at a time. If you miss one batch, you'll have to wait for the owner to finish making it by hand before you can eat the next batch.
I immediately felt that this little stall must be delicious! Plus, the prices are very cheap.
After trying the sweet potato balls first, I found them to be incredibly good, and I ended up ordering taro cakes and sesame balls as well, spending over two hours before I had eaten everything ☺️
🥘
🤍 Taro Cakes ($50/three pieces):
The owner handmade each piece, wrapping taro paste in two pieces of soda crackers, then coating them in flour and frying them. This turned out to be the item with the shortest waiting time.
So delicious! The taro filling is very creamy, and the outer skin is fried just right.
🤍 Sweet Potato Balls ($50/large bag):
The large bag of sweet potato balls comes in an enormous portion. After the owner puts them in the oil, they continuously stir the oil to ensure each sweet potato ball heats evenly, making them plump and chubby 🤤
Taking a bite is truly surprising—the sweet potato aroma is very rich, and the entire ball is dense, with a chewy texture. I can honestly say it’s my number one sweet potato ball!
🤍 Sesame Balls ($50/three pieces):
It's my first time seeing sesame balls! I observed the owner using the same ingredients as the sweet potato balls to wrap the red bean filling 🫘
They're incredibly large! It takes a long time to fry a pot full,
and the care given to the sweet potato balls makes them wonderfully plump.
Besides having the texture of sweet potato balls, they also come with red bean filling, sweet yet not greasy.

Will I revisit? Yes!
