Basically, if you come to Keelung, you must visit this place, it’s right next to the Keelung Night Market. I bought the basic taro balls and the snow dessert recommended by a friend.
▪️Lian Zhen Taro Balls $60/4 pieces
I used to eat them for $45, but I haven't had them in a while. They taste solidly made with taro, with a strong milky flavor (I like the milkiness), but they are sweeter than I expected, so eating too many can be overwhelming. This version is bought directly at the counter.
▪️Large Snow Dessert $120
This is a combination of taro and sago. I haven’t tried this one before; the top layer has a taro pudding feel, with very low sweetness, and the taro flavor isn’t very natural. The bottom layer is a creamy taro with sago!! The bottom layer is super delicious, and I really liked it. This dessert also comes in smaller portions, but you have to buy five at a time, making it ideal for sharing.
Overall, for those who love taro, I really like this place, and there are many items to choose from, but I can't eat too much at once, plus taro shouldn't be stored for long, so I have to give up on some. Although this time it was sweeter than I expected, it’s still a store I want to visit when in Keelung.
