I had saved this place before and it happened to coincide with a gathering with friends. They mentioned they had been wanting to visit for a long time, so here we are! The decor is simple, and the place was about 80-90% full that day.
▪️ Thai Basil Century Egg and Pork Floss Crispy Pancake Platter $115
· 1 century egg, pork floss, Thai basil
· Served with lettuce
I thought it would taste strange, but it turned out to be quite delicious. There wasn't a strong century egg flavor, and the overall taste blended well, though the pancake wasn't as crispy as I expected.
▪️ Oma Mama Yogurt Fried Chicken $260
· Stuffed chicken thigh, bamboo charcoal powder, special sauce
· Served with fruit vinegar or red tea or beverage discount of $20
It looked very appealing, and the taste was just regular fried chicken. It wasn’t very juicy, but it was quite tender. The sauce of the day was dragon fruit sauce, which was very unique; you need to add a bit more to get a light yogurt flavor. The fries that came with it were pretty good.
▪️ Thai Style Soft Shell Crab Burger $350
· Crispy soft shell crab, Thai seafood sauce, cheese, mixed lettuce
· Served with fruit vinegar or red tea or beverage discount of $20
I was most looking forward to this because of the fries that came with it, but my impression was just okay. They were very crispy, but for some reason, they lacked the aroma of fried potatoes, which was a bit disappointing. The soft shell crab was very well-fried and quite large; the overall taste was decent, but it didn’t have much Thai flair.
▪️ Sea Urchin Sauce Scallop Fish Roe $290
· Add beverage discount of $20
The sauce was thick but a bit salty. It wasn't extremely salty, but all four of us dining felt it was on the salty side, especially considering the price; there likely wasn't much sea urchin (no physical sea urchin). I’m not sure where the saltiness came from, but there was one scallop that was very tasty.
▪️ Ceylon Black Tea $40
▪️ American Coffee $75
▪️ Dodo Red $70
▪️ Apple C More $90
All of the above are at regular price, and some came with combo discounts. I only had the tea, and I ordered it unsweetened and hot, which was normal with no astringency, so I thought it was fine. I can't comment on the others since I didn't try them.
Overall, the decor is bright and simple; those who like ocean-themed places would likely find it pleasant. The dishes lean towards the Instagram aesthetic—nothing too extraordinary, but the four of us spent about $305 per person, which felt unexpectedly cheap (we didn’t leave overly full). One downside was the slow service; the staff informed us that it would take 30-40 minutes to wait, and it really was about 30 minutes before the drinks started to come out, taking nearly an hour for everything to be served. However, there weren't many people that day, so those in a hurry should assess the pace of service for themselves.
