At "Yi Ge Beef Soup" near the Tainan Nan Fang, this restaurant is open 24 hours, so you can satisfy your cravings for beef soup any time. This time, I revisited and ordered their breakfast special, which for 150 NT dollars includes beef soup, minced beef rice, vegetables, and a fried egg—a reasonably priced and rich option. The beef soup has a sweet broth, and the beef slices are tender, pairing perfectly with the minced beef rice. However, I must mention that after drinking the soup, there is a slight feeling of umami in the mouth, making the lips a bit numb and leaving you thirsty. Additionally, compared to the minced beef rice, their minced pork rice is actually tastier, with more fat and aroma.
I also ordered the beef offal soup and beef tendon. The liver in the beef offal soup was not well prepared and had a bit of a fishy taste, which slightly deducted points. The beef tendon was decent in texture, but at 130 NT dollars, the portion was on the smaller side, making it feel less worth the price.
The environment of the restaurant is clean, with air conditioning and plenty of seating, so there's almost no need to wait in line. They also have a self-service sauce area with shredded ginger, bean paste, sweet soy sauce, spicy soy sauce, and more, allowing you to mix according to your personal taste. However, this time, the overall experience was slightly below my previous visits; perhaps quality control is more challenging when there are many customers.
Overall, "Yi Ge Beef Soup" is still a place worth trying. It ranks above average among beef soup places in Tainan and is very convenient, unlike some places that are only open in the early hours.
