上和園滷味
"Shanghe Garden Lu Wei" is located on Yizhong Street in Taichung, and it's a snack that I always buy whenever I stroll down that street. The lu wei (braised dishes) here adopts a cold marinated style, instead of the traditional hot marinated route, which makes it feel refreshing and unique. I especially recommend the tofu and chicken feet here; the tofu is marinated well and very fragrant, while the chicken feet are chewy and delicious, not overly soft, with a slight salty flavor that enhances the fun of snacking.
The only downside is that the prices have been rising year by year, making it somewhat burdensome for students now. However, this gradual price increase is quite common for shops in Taiwan. So every time I go, I basically only buy chicken feet and tofu, as I hesitate over other items once the prices go up. There are no dine-in spots here, so after buying, you can only eat while strolling or find a suitable place to sit down and enjoy, making it a good choice for street food snacks.
Overall, the chicken feet and tofu at "Shanghe Garden Lu Wei" are worth a try, but if you have a limited budget, it's best to pick a few favorite small dishes to sample. The overall flavor is quite nice and suitable for a quick snack.
