Buying tickets online can be cheaper. This was my first time visiting the Hansui afternoon tea shop in Tianmu, and overall it was a good experience. I requested a seat by the window when making the reservation, and the restaurant accommodated this, making the dining experience very comfortable. The waitstaff were proactive in clearing unused plates.
The sashimi was a mix of delicious and mediocre; there might have been different levels of freshness?! The seafood was highly recommended, especially the shrimp, but the first batch seemed average and smaller, while the second batch was larger and sweet.
I recommend the hot beef soup, which tasted fresh and didn’t have any fishy smell, perfect for warming up in winter before enjoying the meal.
For dessert, I recommend the freshly made soufflé. The version at the Tianmu store has more chewiness compared to the one at the Fuxing store, though my friend who works in baking really enjoyed it. However, soufflés take time to bake and aren’t made in large quantities, so I suggest checking how much time is left before going over to grab one to avoid disappointment. The tea jelly is also worth trying, featuring a subtle tea aroma and not too sweet, seemingly made with kanten, giving it a special Q texture. Other desserts I liked included the classic chocolate, which is more bitter and less sweet.
When first entering, everyone queues at the sashimi area, so it’s advisable to first grab other food from the cold food area to avoid wasting time since the afternoon tea dining period is only two hours.
The salad was good with olive oil and balsamic vinegar available for self-adding, along with shredded cheese.
If you enjoy beer, you can try the Jing Che Beer King's German wheat beer, which is smooth and not bitter, but be sure not to leave it too long or it will become bitter.
