The Fan Family Dessert Shop is located on Songshan Road in the Xinyi District, near the intersection of Yongji and Songshan Roads, not far from the Houshanpi MRT Station. Next door is the bustling Wufenpu ready-to-wear shopping district.
Today, I enjoyed the classic Thai-style Mocha Moka with snow yam jelly and white fungus, totaling 280 NT dollars.
Classic Thai-style Mocha Moka:
It looks quite colorful, with a generous amount of toppings served over crushed ice. It includes common Thai ingredients like sago, butterfly pea flower, pineapple, and jackfruit strands, with vibrant but not overly flashy colors, and the portions are quite generous. The sweetness level is on the higher side, typical of authentic Southeast Asian desserts, with a rich coconut milk aroma and a thick layer of red bean paste at the bottom. It’s hearty enough to be considered a meal.
Snow Yam Jelly with White Fungus:
It has a clear color and is smooth and easy to drink. It contains snow yam jelly, white fungus, lotus seeds, red dates, and goji berries. The sweetness is relatively low, almost presenting the original flavor—only mildly sweetened, without interfering with the natural taste of the ingredients. The white fungus is cooked soft but not mushy, creating a smooth texture with a slight bite, making it feel quite nourishing and healthy.
Overall, it is a dessert shop with a diverse and unique flavor profile. Although the dining space is limited, it is clean and bright, suitable for a short stay to enjoy desserts or for takeout to savor at home. The shop also sells Southeast Asian snacks, so if you're interested, you don’t have to travel far to the Thai and Burmese streets in Zhonghe.
Highly recommended to everyone!
