📍Location: Taipei, Taiwan

I still remember when Tim Ho Wan first came to Taiwan, the queue outside the store was several rounds long every day. It’s been several years, and now I can just walk into the store whenever I want to eat.

This time, I visited their branch near Songshan Station, and even on a weekday afternoon, it was still bustling with business. Here’s what we ordered for two people:

  • King Chives and Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll
The shrimp were very firm and large, drizzled with a special sauce that was particularly tasty. The rice noodle skin was smooth and tender, with the right thickness—this is a must-try when having Hong Kong-style rice noodle rolls.

  • Crispy Fried Tofu with Pork Floss
The fried tofu is coated with pork floss; it's crispy on the outside and tender inside. The size is just perfect for one bite and incredibly delicious, we finished it in no time.

  • Molten Salted Egg Yolk Cake
Starch lovers will definitely enjoy fried desserts like sesame balls. The ones filled with molten salted egg yolk are simply exquisite 🥺 super tasty—those who love this type of food should not miss it!

  • Pan-fried Radish Cake
I really like Tim Ho Wan's radish cake because you can actually taste the strands of radish in it, which gives it a feeling of substance. Paired with fragrant minced meat, it’s delicious. Although it feels a bit extravagant to eat typical Taiwanese snacks at Tim Ho Wan 😂, their radish cake is really well made… I can’t bear to miss it.

  • Soy Sauce King Char Siu Fried Noodles
I personally quite like thin noodles, and Hong Kong-style soy sauce fried thin noodles are an unbeatable choice. It's stir-fried to perfection and very tasty.

  • Baked Char Siu Bun with Puff Pastry
You must try the signature baked char siu bun. The puff pastry on top is baked to a crisp, and the char siu inside is plentiful and generous. For me, the char siu is slightly on the sweet side, but I still can't help but order it every time. This dish is quite filling, and I always feel full after eating it.

  • Purple Rice and Job's Tears with Coconut Milk
It was my first time trying the purple rice and job's tears with coconut milk, and it was incredibly rich and fragrant. The red and white tangyuan were not overcooked, and the ratios of purple rice and job's tears were just right. Each bite had filling, and the soup felt thick—like it had a lot of fresh cream 😂 but it’s so delicious that it’s a guilty pleasure, and having it occasionally feels very blissful.

It’s really hard to recommend just one dish because every single one is delicious! Each dish is a must-order 😆. I have returned many times, always ordering our favorites. I feel that Tim Ho Wan maintains excellent quality control across all their branches, with each dish being equally delicious and of the same standard. The branch at Songshan Station did not disappoint on my first visit!
