Lin Family Beef Noodle is located on Wuxing Street in the Xinyi District, not far from Taipei Medical University. This area is mostly a mixed zone of residential and market spaces, and there are many old shops in the alleys, with Lin Family Beef Noodle being one of the historical signature establishments.
This shop was opened by the father of the founder of Lin Dongfang Beef Noodle, and it features medicinal herb-based broth.
Today, I enjoyed a large bowl of beef noodles, priced at 190 NT dollars.
Beef Noodles:
The broth, made with medicinal herbs, has a rich aroma and isn’t too overwhelming; it tastes mellow and warm. The beef is cut into fairly large pieces, tender and not dry, offering a great texture. The noodles are the commonly seen round, thick white noodles, which have some elasticity, providing a hearty mouthfeel and holding the broth well.
On the table, they provide the classic spicy beef oil commonly found in traditional beef noodle shops. It has a strong aroma and adequate spiciness, adding an extra layer of flavor variation to the whole bowl of noodles; it would be a shame not to use it.
Overall, it is an old shop rich in traditional flavors of medicinal beef noodles. The balance among the beef, broth, and noodles is well achieved, and upon entering, you can smell the strong aroma of Chinese herbs. The price of 190 NT dollars is slightly high, but it's definitely worth it. If the budget allows, I would like to try the half tendon, half meat noodles next time.
The dining area is spacious and clean, and the fish tank inside is decorated in a very unique way.
I highly recommend it to everyone!
