The ice cream shop near Pingdong A-Hou Park - Chun Hao Ice Store, is located at the corner of Zhonghua Road, which is bustling with people. The store's decor has a hipster vibe, but the dishes sold here carry the essence of a traditional ice cream shop, offering a variety of old-fashioned flavors. They combine local agricultural products from Pingdong, featured in every bowl of ice cream.
The signature mixed ice costs NT$60 and includes six types of toppings to choose from. I didn’t try the taro because it requires an extra charge, so I selected mung beans, red beans, grass jelly, brown sugar powder, glutinous rice balls, and taro balls. The portions of the six toppings are quite generous, making the bowl look even more appetizing, and as usual, I took a photo for my phone before digging in.
The mung beans and red beans are cooked very soft and tender, which I really enjoy. The glutinous rice balls are still warm and chewy, and the old-fashioned brown sugar has a slight bitterness but adds a delightful sweetness. Overall, it’s deliciously sweet without being overwhelming.
