Today, I came to No. 1 Qingcheng Street for work. After finishing, it was past the lunch hour, so the mall restaurants weren't too crowded. I walked to B1 where there are four restaurants (12mini, snail noodles, Chengji Vietnamese Pho, and Ai Laksa) and I had recently been craving laksa, so I ultimately chose Ai Laksa.
The meal was quite simple; I ordered laksa and Hainanese chicken rice. The laksa had the basic broth, along with Thai-style hot and sour, clear broth, and dry noodle options. The main dish could choose from ramen, wide rice noodles, and rice vermicelli, and I could also upgrade for an additional 60 NT dollars (side dish + drink). I ordered the most basic traditional laksa paired with rice vermicelli.
The service was quick; my meal was ready in under five minutes. As soon as I received it, I smelled the strong laksa aroma. The portion of toppings was quite generous, including purple onion slices, bean sprouts, tofu puffs, tofu skin, fish balls, and shrimp. The rice vermicelli performed as expected, but the broth was indeed quite authentic and rich. I felt that the purple onion added depth to both the texture and flavor, which I appreciated. Although the shrimp wasn’t very fresh and wasn’t particularly large, overall, the broth and onion made me enjoy it a lot. It also satisfied my craving for laksa, as there aren’t many laksa shops in Xinzhuang. But since I came alone, I didn’t order kaya toast.
This place is self-service; you need to order and pick up your food at the counter, and after eating, you must return your tray to the recycling area!
Overall, this restaurant is a place you can come to if you pass by or if you really want to simply have some laksa, but it’s not a place you need to specifically plan to visit.
