In Hong Kong, whether it is beef noodles, oyster omelette or taro balls, almost every Hong Kong person can talk about it because Hong Kong people love Taiwanese food. Taiwanese restaurants are springing up in Hong Kong, some selling beef noodles, some selling braised pork rice, and "Baodao Ancient Beef Noodles" not only sells one kind of food, but also sells a taste that reminds people of the past. The word "古zza" is a slang term derived from Taiwanese dialect, which means that in the past, "guzao flavor" is the traditional and nostalgic taste. As the name suggests, the dishes cooked in "Baodao Ancient Beef Noodles" are all based on "ancient flavor", and the menu is designed based on the childhood memories of the Taiwanese owner.

Today I brought one of my chinchillas to accompany me to taste the dishes.
The soup base of the beef noodles is infused with more than ten kinds of medicinal herbs, which is clear and sweet. The lasagna noodles are not sent directly from Taiwan, but are specially made by the store at a noodle factory. They are just right in thickness and chewy. The thick-cut beef is soft and flavourful, and each bowl only costs tens of Hong Kong dollars, making it a good value for money. Taiwan's oyster omelette is one of the delicacies. The addition of tapioca flour brings out a smoky and tough texture, which has a different flavor from the Teochew fried oyster cakes we usually eat. The oyster omelette here is thinner than the Taiwanese version. It doesn't feel like a mouthful of powdery soup, and you can taste the delicious oyster flavor. The sauce is made by the chef using tomato juice and fresh chili peppers. It is sweet and spicy, which is more impressive than what we have eaten in Taiwan.
When we were halfway through our meal, the aroma of braised chicken came from the table next door. It turned out that the restaurant also offers braised chicken. Compared with the beef noodle soup, this brine contains more medicinal materials. I don’t know why it smells of medicinal aromas such as angelica root, rehmannia root, wolfberry, etc. The soup base of the oyster noodles has a strong flavor that fills your entire mouth in one sip. After a few sips, your mood instantly warms up. In addition, the mellow aroma of the fresh and tender pork is looming, and the portion is generous. If it is not enough, you can also order some different side dishes.
As a gourmet who has never experienced military training or war times, I can never understand what the real "old-fashioned taste" is. Moreover, as times change, so do the tastes of diners. Does "old-fashioned taste" mean good things? There is no way to care about eating. The only thing I know is that "Ancient Taste" contains the memories and longings of a generation. As far as food is concerned, this restaurant is very cost-effective. Moreover, it is pet-friendly, so "Baodao Ancient Beef Noodles" easily earned a four-star reputation.
