🚩 Beitou Squid - Traditional Simple Good Taste

Beitou Squid was first sold in Beitou Market by the first-generation owner in 1979, gradually becoming a popular local store. In 1996, the second generation took over and began to expand into a chain, currently with locations in Tianmu, Zhishan, and Guangfu in Taipei City.

The Guangfu store is located in a small alley on Guangfu South Road in the Daan District of Taipei City, with the nearest MRT station being the 2nd exit of the National Father Memorial Hall, about a 3-minute walk away. The shop's sign is not very eye-catching, and its decor is simple and straightforward, with a touch of retro style. There are plenty of dining seats, and the space is spacious enough to accommodate group gatherings without any issue.

Upon entering, you fill out a paper menu and hand it to the staff. There are self-service side dishes available, and you settle the bill after dining, cash only, with traditional paper invoices provided.

Today we ordered quite a bit, and my impressions of the dishes are in the photo below ⬇️

Almost all the dishes we had today were good, although some had slightly higher prices, the ingredients were substantial in quantity. The flavors are simple but not drastically off, the business is good, and the serving speed is acceptable. It’s a place worth revisiting.

Signature Mixed Soup with Vermicelli $115 It contains squid, meat paste, cuttlefish, and fish flakes. Each ingredient has more than 3 pieces, and the quality of the ingredients is good. The soup is slightly light, and you won’t feel burdened even if you drink a lot. The portion is very generous, making it an excellent value.
Spicy Wontons with Dry Noodles (Large) $120 The wontons are mildly spicy and taste pretty good. The portion is large, but the overall experience is a bit bland.
The side dishes come in two flavors mixed. Each plate is $65.
This is also a $65 dish. The portion is not small.
Signature Fried Pork Belly (Large) $120 Freshly fried, with a crispy skin and tender layers of meat. Each piece is cut a bit thick, making it very satisfying to eat.
Golden Fried Tofu $45 Crispy outer layer encasing soft and tender tofu Great texture, but the sauce is slightly monotonous Radish adds richness to the flavor
