The crowds in Hsinchu during the holiday are really huge. The restaurants I originally wanted to eat at were all full, so I ended up finding a roadside braised food place for a quick meal!
The great thing about this place is that you can pay with Line Pay, and there’s an air-conditioned, clean indoor space where you can enjoy your meal slowly. If you want a hand-shaken drink, there are also many beverage shops nearby for takeout, or you can directly check the drink menu at this shop. 🥤
In the picture, this plate costs a total of $155. I felt about 80-90% full after eating; considering current prices, it's still pretty okay (you can choose a half portion of the large soy skin, which is great). However, the seasonings here are a bit on the lighter side and have a sweet and spicy flavor. The shop kindly asks if you want pickled vegetables, which I think is a nice touch.
As for the noodles, the texture is great; biting into them releases a lot of broth. Personally, I’m not a big fan of cabbage—if you enjoy crunchy vegetables, you might want to order more! I’m afraid of the raw taste of cabbage, especially the stems.
