Located near the Taipei Arena, Pastaio Noodle Cafe. This time I finally came to taste it, originally holding very high expectations, especially for their main dishes and desserts. However, after the overall experience, some items were stunning, while others were somewhat ordinary. Below is a complete account of this dining experience.
Crispy Fried Soft Shell Crab
This dish of soft shell crab has a crispy fried exterior, which meets a certain standard both in appearance and texture. However, the overall seasoning leans towards being salty, and the crab meat itself carries a slight fishy taste. It may not be suitable for those sensitive to seafood flavors. As an appetizer or standalone item, it performs decently, but it can't be called stunning. 🦀
Sake-Drunk Saga Wagyu
This dish has a name that sounds very powerful, but in reality, it was a bit disappointing. It is basically beef sauce noodles spiced with chili and basil; while the wide noodles are chewy and have a nice texture, the sauce and wagyu do not ignite the expected sparks. The spiciness is mild, and the seasoning is plain, lacking the layers and personality that “sake-drunk” should have. It’s advisable to skip this dish and save room for dessert. 🐂
Thick Crème Brûlée French Toast – Pistachio
This dish was the most surprising item of the meal, highly recommended! The toast itself has a crispy outer layer and moist, dense interior. Paired with pistachio-flavored cream, it is not overly sweet and allows for the natural fragrance and smoothness of the nuts to shine. Adding a scoop of ice cream for contrast in texture creates a divine combination of hot and cold. Dessert lovers should not miss this! 😍
Thick Crème Brûlée French Toast – Tiramisu
This comes with a cup of espresso, which you can pour over to enhance the flavor. The toast is as exceptional as the previous version, with a crispy sugared exterior and moist interior, but its taste is comparatively more ordinary compared to the pistachio. If it's your first visit, I recommend prioritizing the pistachio version, saving the tiramisu for the next visit.
Daily Freshly Juiced Fruits and Vegetables
You can tell it’s freshly made, with a natural flavor that isn’t too sweet, making it a perfect drink to accompany dessert. 🍎
Coca-Cola
Well... it’s Coke. (laughs)
Overall, the most compelling reason to visit Pastaio Noodle Cafe is the "French Toast" dessert series. The performance of the main dishes did not meet expectations, particularly with a lack of memorable seasoning and flavors. However, the desserts showcased a high level of completion and brand uniqueness in terms of texture, fragrance, and creativity.
I suggest a dining strategy: visit during the afternoon tea hours and focus on desserts and drinks. Additionally, since the portion of the French toast is substantial, be sure to save room! If you want to fully enjoy it, perhaps don’t eat too full for lunch and reserve enough appetite for this high-quality dessert.
(If only counting desserts, I would give it five stars!)
