🚩 Nostalgic Taiwanese Cuisine, Even the AI Godfather Visits

📍 Location and Transportation: Located on Dunhua South Road in Taipei City, between the Taipei Arena and Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT Stations, about a 10-minute walk. There is a paid parking lot behind the restaurant.

🏠 Space: The exterior of the restaurant features a rare retro red brick facade in the city, with several vintage children's toys in the arcade. Entering the restaurant feels like stepping back into the 1960s, with movie posters and Tatung Baby dolls on the walls that exude a strong sense of nostalgia. The restaurant is equipped with large round tables, suitable for group dining. On weekdays at noon, the place is usually full, so reservations are recommended in advance.

💰 Ordering and Payment: Staff take orders at the table, with payment settled after the meal; cash or credit card is acceptable.

🍽️ Dishes: There are many dishes available for table ordering, descriptions are written below the photos ⬇️

💬 Summary: The Brick Oven Traditional Flavor has its original store and a DunNan store. A few years ago, the DunNan store was handed over to the current owner, and it is now run by a different management team. This restaurant was already quite popular, and after Huang Renxun's visit at the end of May, it became even more crowded, with bookings that never seem to stop. Today, we came for lunch; the owner treated us, and for nine people, the bill was under 4,000 TWD. The dishes were all quite good, and most of the staff are friendly older ladies.

White Cut Chicken $580 Made with free-range chicken, the skin has a beautiful shine. The meat is tender and not tough, and the portion is quite large. The seasoning is relatively mild, served with pickled vegetables and dipping sauce.
Dried Radish Omelette $200 There is a good amount of egg, it's a thick omelette, and it doesn't feel greasy.
Cabbage $160 Stir-fried very oily Only scallions and cabbage, a bit lacking in interest.
Lard mixed rice $20 Lard fragrance, traditional good flavor.
Sesame Oil Noodle Soups $130 The noodles serve about 3 people, flavored with sesame oil and ginger slices, with a salty and aromatic taste.
Golden Sand Shrimp Balls $360 The shrimp balls are quite large in size and the quantity is not small. They have a crispy texture and paired with the slightly powdered golden sand which has a hint of saltiness, it makes for an interesting dish.
Golden King Oyster Mushroom $360 Traditional deep-fried shiitake and king oyster mushrooms coated with a thin layer of batter. It's quite good when eaten hot, but the price is a bit high.
Bamboo Shoots with Braised Pork $360 The braised pork is tender and flavorful, with a slightly oily taste. The bamboo shoots are laid at the bottom; they're soft when bitten but not too salty.
Sweet and Sour Sea Bass $780 Served only towards the end, this dish is quite large. The fish is first deep-fried and then drizzled with sweet and sour sauce. The sauce has a good flavor, but the frying makes it dry and tough, so there isn't much edible part.
Shiso Plum Spare Ribs $280 The seasoning is sweet, and the first bite is quite shocking 😲 The spare ribs are fried very tender, slightly salty and slightly sweet. On top, besides sesame, there are chocolate rice. Is this being made as a dessert? 🤔 It's quite subtle.
