On Friday evening, I kicked off a 9-day vacation with a meal at a new hot pot brand under Wang Pin, which is based on chicken soup.
The overall style of the store is very trendy, with décor resembling that of a nightclub. The ordering method is similar to other hot pot restaurants where you choose the main dish, soup base, and sides. The vegetable platter is an all-you-can-eat self-service style, which I prefer (since I enjoy vegetables more than meat), and there is also ice cream available for dessert.
Today, I ordered two main dishes; there are nine soup bases, and I chose the original chicken soup along with clam and loofah chicken soup. We used a split pot so everyone could choose what they wanted to eat, though pairing chicken soup with pork and beef seemed a bit off. For the main dishes, I ordered the luxurious beef and a combination of pork and chicken, but the portion of meat was actually not that much and not particularly impressive. The selection of vegetables in the self-service bar was somewhat limited, but the vegetables were quite fresh, which I liked. The daily special of sea bream fillet had the skin on, giving it a nice QQ texture. I ordered the recommended soul-satisfying chicken rice, but the flavor was quite ordinary. The fried egg had a crispy outer layer with a runny yolk in the middle, paired with pepper, which provided an unexpected refreshment. The white sugar cake was also very tasty, and they provided paper bags to mix the peanut sugar powder and white sugar cake, which was thin and crispy - when you bit into it, it had a QQ texture that I absolutely fell in love with ❤️. The ice cream flavors included peanut and milk, with many toppings available, making it a paradise for kids.
Overall, the meals were decent, but after finishing, it didn't seem to have any unique aspects. The prices are reasonable for the Zhongshan District, but if they opened in New Taipei, there might be more local hot pot restaurants to consider. 🤔
