The Sun Family Diner is located on Songshan Road in the Xinyi District. Nearby are Yongchun Metro Station and Hulinh Street Market, making it quite lively. It seems to have been operated locally for over a decade.
Today, I took out a mixed rice, five-spice beef rice, and miso soup, totaling 260 NT dollars.
Mixed Rice:
The main dish includes three types, which should be sea bream fillet, squid fillet, and Japanese-style grilled meat. Although the portions are smaller individually, being able to try several types makes it quite worth recommending. The sea bream and squid fillet are both crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, very delicious.
Five-Spice Beef Rice:
The braised beef is generously laid over the rice, which really makes your mouth water. The flavor is also quite delicious, with the beef’s braising sauce being perfectly balanced between salty and sweet. The side dishes in the bento box are also of pretty good quality.
Miso Soup:
Regular miso soup, but this bowl is only 10 NT dollars and is already delicious enough.
Overall, it lives up to its reputation as a long-standing local eatery. There is always a long line during mealtimes, and the crowd often surpasses that of the neighboring Dongmen Duck Restaurant. The bento portions are quite substantial, and the quality of the rice is consistently good.
Highly recommended to everyone!
