Recently, a new chain sesame oil chicken restaurant opened in Gongguan. They already have many branches in the Taipei area, and there happened to be a promotion where you get a free serving of noodles with the main dish, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed.

The price is on the higher side, and even with the free noodles, I still find it expensive. (Considering the prices at Shi Family Sesame Oil Chicken, one bowl of soup here could already get you Shi Family’s soup plus a minced pork rice.)

This time, I ordered the sesame oil pork heart, and the pork heart was extremely tough, which was quite unexpected. I found it hard to chew compared to similar dishes from other places; the broth was mediocre as well. The pork heart itself didn't absorb much flavor from the sesame oil, giving off a vibe of sesame oil + hot water + blanched pork heart. The most flavorful part was probably the cabbage in the broth!

As for the noodles, since they were free, I thought they were quite decent and the portion was pretty generous. However, after the promotion ends, I might hesitate about the price.

Overall, I wouldn't particularly recommend it. If you're curious, you can give it a try, or take advantage of a promotional event to check it out!
