OZ Cafe & Bistro

Hidden in the alleys of Wu Xing Street in the Xinyi District of Taipei, OZ Bistro is a cozy little bistro that offers a warm atmosphere with a focus on a relaxed space and exquisite desserts. The ambiance inside feels like a dessert bistro that understands the rhythm of life. However, it’s unfortunate that this place will only operate until the end of May this year, so a reminder: if you want to indulge, you’d better do it now!

During this visit, I ordered the “Oolong Sea Salt Cheese Cream Cake.” This layered cake is unforgettable; each layer of pastry is very thin, soft, and fluffy, creating an incredibly delicate texture. The inner layer features a rich oolong tea cream that has a fragrant tea aroma without any bitterness, finishing cleanly and layered, yet not heavy!

What adds extra points is the layer of salted cheese cream on top (which I didn't capture in the photo), whose smooth saltiness blends perfectly with the flavor of oolong tea. The sea salt adds just a hint of saltiness to the overall flavor, making the dessert feel refreshing rather than the overly sweet or creamy problem often found in layered cakes. Every bite balances tea aroma, creamy flavor, and a slight saltiness, making it a rare layered cake that does not get cloying even until the last bite!

Although OZ Bistro is set up as a bistro, its dessert skills rival those of professional dessert shops. The space is small and cozy, perfect for afternoon dates or gatherings with friends, where you can enjoy a cocktail alongside a piece of delightful cake.

In summary: this layered cake is one of the most impressive desserts I've had recently, rich in tea flavor, with a delicate texture that isn’t heavy. I recommend it to anyone who loves layered cakes and tea-flavored desserts. While there’s still time, make sure to visit OZ Bistro!
