Having tried many Hainanese chicken rice dishes, the Hainanese chicken rice from Xingma Fast Food is exceptionally tender. The chicken is quite fresh, evident from how tightly the skin and meat are connected. There are often dark red spots on the chicken pieces, but there is no fishy smell, which should be due to the hemoglobin seeping from the bone marrow. Both sauces pair well, and the white rice seems to be authentic Thai rice, albeit a bit on the moist side.
We also ordered the signature laksa from Xingma, which might be our first time having laksa. The broth is rich and aromatic, and the shrimp flavor elevates the overall taste. The rice noodles and pasta can completely soak up the broth, making it truly exceptional.
This is a Xingma restaurant located downstairs of Nangang Station and inside the Universal Shopping Mall. It is a street store with its own seating area. There is a 10% service fee for inside use, with a minimum purchase of 70 yuan.
- Ice and Fire Pineapple Oil - 60 - Their pineapple oil is made to order, and it takes about 5-8 minutes. When you get it, the pineapple will be hot, and the cream inside will almost melt! Their pineapple bread itself is very special. It has a different texture from the regular pineapple bread lattice-shaped soufflé. Its outer crust tastes particularly thin and crispy, even the lower layer without pineapple dough! The middle is more like a soft bread body. The taste of bread mixed with butter is not that obvious, it is more of an oily taste, not particularly salty or sweet. Would purely recommend their pineapple bread!
-Sambal Egg $40 - Cut the whole egg in half, the yolk part is not overcooked so it will not be dry, which is good! It's just slightly spicy with sambal sauce on top, and you can get a distinct shrimp texture, but it's a little oily.
Their taste is not crispy and full of local flavor. If you want a main meal, you can add rice and soup for free. If you are nearby, you can consider eating there!
