The outer layer of Zhengjia egg cake is soft and not overly sweet, with simple ingredients. The plum blossom shape and the unique "double happiness" character add to its charm. It has a chewy texture, a low level of sweetness, and a strong traditional flavor.
The design and uniqueness of the dishes add fun to the dining experience, creating anticipation for each tasting. The long queue indicates its popularity.
Although it is a roadside stall, the service efficiency is quite good, allowing customers to quickly purchase the food they want. The food is served quickly, and the waiting time is not long.
Just as I was about to enter the mall, I saw a long line. After browsing around and coming out, people were still in line, which felt impressive. The food came out fairly quickly; I waited in line for about 10 minutes before I got to buy some.
Founded in the 57th year of the Republic, the egg cake features a plum blossom double happiness pattern. It comes out hot and has a chewy texture. There’s only one flavor, and it tastes simple and original, giving off a nostalgic feel. The sweetness is quite low, and I think 4 pieces for 35 NTD is reasonable.
Braces Person's Review: Can't Comment on Street Food
Every time I come to Hsinchu, I always buy Zheng's egg cake.
Even though I can't eat it right away (because of my braces),
it still tastes really good when I take it home to eat 😋.
Eating it when it’s hot definitely makes it even better.
Its shape is that of a plum blossom,
and in the center, there’s a printed "喜" character, which is their unique logo.
The outer layer isn’t crispy; it has a slightly soft texture when bitten,
without a heavy flour taste.
It’s not too sweet, and the ingredients feel really simple.
I will definitely buy it again next time!
